Why is Australian grown Chia Seed Oil good for the skin?

You’ve been sprinkling Chia Seeds on everything from your cereal to soup because you have heard it’s good for you. But did you know it is beneficial to use on the lips and skin too?

For the same reason why it’s nutritionally beneficial to eat everyday, Chia is rich in fatty oils called Omega 3 ALA and Omega 6 LA. When applied topically, these oils provide nourishment and protection by hydrating and then sealing in the moisture on the epidermal layer of the skin.

A group of researchers from a leading Korean university looked into the effectiveness of Chia Oil when used topically by individuals with severe skin dryness and itching. After regular application and only after eight weeks, they observed that the skin became more hydrated. They found the oils provided protective barrier to the skin, improving appearance and making it more healthy.

If you’re thinking of grabbing a handful and scrubbing it directly on your skin for its hydrating properties, there’s a more effective and efficient way of doing it.  (Though this can be fun too. Have you seen Chia seeds expand when soaked in water?)

Kiss Ready is a range of handcrafted natural skincare enriched with Australian grown and cold pressed Chia Oil. High in Omega 3, Omega 6 and antioxidants, it provides nourishment and hydration to the skin, lips and hair. Natural, no nasties and cruelty-free, our products are hand made in small batches and with a lot of love.
